My summer favorites :)
Summer is the time of year that I just don’t care. I don’t wear much makeup, nor do my hair often. It’s usually pretty natural! I don’t like having on a lot of makeup when I’m swimming daily, hiking, or just being hot, so here we go!
Hair/skin care:
1.Gud By Burts Bees Natural Nourishing and Softening Shampoo and Conditioner
- I love this stuff! My dry and frazzled hair is instantly smoothed with this duo, plus it smells like oranges!
2.Bio Oil
- This is my go-to moisturizer. I love this stuff! Has a nice light scent and makes my skin feel extremely soft and… supple. Like a baby. That’s not the best way to explain a baby, don’t do that.
3.Target Generic of Saint Ives Apricot Scrub
- This stuff scrubs off all the ickies left over from fun summer activities, like hiking, swimming, camping, etc.

Zoya Nail Polish Review!
I took advantage of their AWESOME offer, 2012 coupon code for 2 free nail polishes- just pay shipping. So, for 8 bucks I got 2 polishes.
They came in this cute little box (pictured above) with some nail swatch plates and a little info book that has ALL of their colors! I loved getting the swatch plate because online swatches are just so hard to picture.
The two I got are Laurie (left) and Jem (right).
Laurie is a milky-semi opaque pink. Two coats doesn’t quite conceal the whole nail, but three will for sure! It’s the perfect spring color. What I love is that it’s NOT streaky, like Figi from Essie is.
Jem is a deepened raspberry with a gold frost. It’s really a gorgeous color, but I didn’t think it was going to be this dark. I was a bit disappointed since I thought I’d be able to wear it for spring, but I’ll just have to find the right time time to wear it! It’s SO opaque though, one coat was ALL I needed for full coverage.
Overall, these are great nail polishes.
Pros:
- Great packaging
- Not streaky
- Very creamy
- Very smooth
- Doesn’t bubble
- Smell is VERY MILD, which I thought was amazing!
Cons:
- Laurie is a bit sheer.
Sinful Colors Nail Polish Review!
(Sorry for the super crappy swatches!)
Sinful colors have been one of my favorite nail varnish brands for these reasons:
- Super cheap price
- Great color pay off
- Large range of colors
- Good consistency, not too runny, not too thick!
- Large amount of product
- Fairly opaque!
The only thing bad I can say about them is that they can tend to peal off if you do more than 4 layers or so, which is sad because some of the colors tend to be sheer.
From left to right:
This is it, Soul Mate, Ruby Ruby, Gorgeous, Mint Apple, Let’s Talk, Toxic Shine.
This Is It: Sheer gold sparkly color. 3-5 coats for full opacity.
Soul Mate: Creamy opaque coral.
Ruby Ruby: Sheer rich red color. I’d compare this to a Mac’s Luster Lipstick! It has no sparkles, but a really nice sheer coverage that feels nice. Almost like stained glass!
Gorgeous: Metallic blue/teal. 1 coat will give mostly full coverage. 2 is perfect!
Mint Apple: Minty pale green with gold sparkles… Really unique and pretty.
Let’s Talk: Deep metallic purple with a fuchsia duochrome.
Toxic Shine: REALLY metallic light purple.
All retail for about 2 dollars at local drugstores.
Edgy Lacy Nail Tutorial (really bad, but you get the gist ;p)
This was the first time I did this and it looks really bad, I KNOW. BUT I know so many other people are GREAT at precision cutting and working on their nails and may want to try this out! ^.^ So I thought I’d share anyways, as embarrassing as this is. x)
I’ll redo it another time and make it better :3
What you need:
Base polish
Lace
Black polish
Top coat
NAIL FILE
What I used:
Sinful Colors in Toxic Shine
Black lace I found at good will
Nail art deco striper in black
Seche Vite top coat
regular nail file
What I did:
1. Painted nails with base color
2. Added a stripe of black nail polish for where I wanted the lace to go. I helped “blend” it in (yeah right.. xD) with dapping some nail polish on the edge of the line with a sponge.
3. Cut out some lace
4.Add some clear polish to use as a “glue”.
5.Put your lace in place!
6. File off the excess lace. It will come right off :)
