Wednesday Worth The Hype? This week is: Talked About Mascaras!
These two mascaras are among some of the highest talked about mascara’s in the beauty community, that I’ve seen. (Excluding bad gal lash and Chanel.)
So, I wanted to talk about them!
Buxom Lash Mascara (pictured on left) retails for $19. Benefit’s They’re Real retails for $21. Both are quite spendy for a mascara!
Buxom Lash has a very sticky formula. It takes a LONG time for it to dry, and when it does, it still has a tacky feeling! It’s not heavy though, which is about the only thing I REALLY like about it.
It’s a fairly good natural mascara because it gives hardly any sort of volume or length. It claims to boost your volume by 300%, which is BULL PUCKY. It doesn’t at ALL!
I’d have to say that Buxom Lash is NOT worth the hype whatsoever.
Benefit’s mascara does exactly what it says though. It lengthens and curls like no other mascara I’ve seen! The only drawback is that it feels VERY heavy and gets a bit crunchy.
Worth The Hype? Somewhat. I would say if you have the extra 21 bucks, go for it. If not, stick with your wonderful drugstore brands.
To me, a mascara is a mascara. Some obviously will clump, but with a spooly the clumps will be gone.
Neither of these products are tested on animals.
Worth The Hype Wednesday: Hard Candy Sheer Envy Skin Perfecting Primer
(WAS IN MY QUE BUT DIDN’T GET POSTED FOR SOME REASON D:)
This weeks post is on Hard Candy’s Sheer Envy Skin Perfecting Primer. Retails for about 8 dollars at Walmarts. Comes with 1.3 ounces of product, which is a large amount since you only need a pea size to cover your face.
I like this product!
It has a nice consistency, feels really slick until you blend it in. Then it becomes very smooth! It does not have skin perfecting qualities as other primers might though. It doesn’t fill in lines, cover pores, or wrinkles.
What it does do is makes your makeup last and is a GREAT foundation base. It keeps my foundation from getting that “dry” sort of look and I look the same by the end of the day as I did when I first put it on. It doesn’t feel heavy at all, very light!
Is it worth all the hype it receives? Somewhat. I’d say it’s a good primer, and a pretty good price which makes it pretty awesome. :)
DOES NOT TEST ON ANIMALS!
Worth The Hype? Wednesday: EOS Lip Balm!
( Sorry it’s late! This will be a very short WTH(lol!) because it’s just a lip balm)
I always get dry lips in the winter so I stock up on lip balms because I loose them so easily… I heard so much about this product so I thought I’d give it a try! I found it at the check out station at Walmart, I went there to buy cookie cutters, and I bought it on impulse for my Worth The Hype series!
Everybody seems to just LOVE this product, I bought it in Summer Fruit.
When I first opened the packaging, which is just SO cool, I was immediately in love. The smell of it is WONDERFUL. I couldn’t stop smelling it. I finally took it away from my nose to apply it to my lips. It has a nice smooth, moisturizing feel, but wasn’t as great as my Rose Salve, which is a 10. So I rate this product an 8 for moisturizing.
The only con I could find of this product is that you can’t fit the packaging in your pocket. It’s an awkward bulky shape but if you just toss it in your purse like I do, it immediately becomes a con because it’s so easy to find!
I think this product really is worth the hype, as far as a lip balm goes.
I bought mine for just over 3 dollars, I believe, and that’s a good price for a cute little product like this!
So there you have it, folks, EOS lip balm passes the test in my book. (;
See you guys next week!
“Worth the Hype?” Wednesday!
( I know it’s not Wednesday but I was too excited to post this for you guys xD So, from now on it will be only on Wednesdays but for today it is on a Tuesday (; )
So, for my first official “Worth The Hype” series, I will be talking to you guys about a product that was requested. It is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil.
What this product claims: “
Glide on color that stays put for the duration of your non-stop, on-the-go day! These cushiony, creamy eye pencils deliver powerful, vibrant color that slides on smooth and stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries to a long-lasting finish that won’t budge. Line eyes with a hint of color or go for the full artistic, multi-hued effect. Truly inspired, these pencils go all day and all night.”
Now, first off let me tell you that a single review on this product from me would be extremely biased because….
I. Hate. Eyeliner pencils. And I especially hate the ones that are not retractable. Sharpening pencils is, excuse my french, HELL for me. It always breaks off and I end up with just a stub after my first use xD.
So, this is why I compared this pencil with my other eyeliners! (a mixture of cream, gel, and other pencils.)

Wet ‘n Wild Megalast, Kat Von D Autograph Pencil in Puro Amor, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero, Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon Black Black, Maybelline EyeStudio in Blackest Black, Mac Fluidline in Black track
- Wet ‘n Wild Megalast retails for $1.99
- Kat Von D Autograph Pencil (full size) retails for $18
- UD 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil retails for $18
- Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon retails for $0.99
- Maybelline EyeStudio retails for $8-10
- Mac Fluidline retails for 19.50
Now, out of the following swatches, can you guess which one is the UD 24/7 eyeliner pencil one?
You probably may not have guessed, since all the talk about this eyeliner is so great, but it’s NUMBER 3. Yeah, that’s right! The one with the LEAST blackest color.
Now, don’t get too angry with me and say that I rigged this… I rubbed this back and forth 3 times, the same amount as all the other eyeliners!
If you don’t believe me, take a look for yourself at this photo:
The top swatch is just a firm one sweep rub, while the second is me DRILLING it onto my skin. That is most definitely not something that I want from a product that claims to have a very good color pay off and that is so expensive.
Now, don’t get me wrong, the smoothness of this pencil is glorious. It slides on just like warm butter! But I don’t feel as though it is worth it if I have to rub back and forth a whole lot to get a good black color.
The second thing I tested was how durable that this eyeliner was. In their description, and name, they claim to last all day and all night. They also claim that after 30 seconds of drying time, their formula won’t budge!
What I did was with the swatches of all my eyeliners above, I took my finger and gently pulled the color down after waiting 15 minutes for each of the eyeliners to dry.
These are the results:

Wet ‘n Wild Megalast, Kat Von D Autograph Pencil in Puro Amor, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero, Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon Black Black, Maybelline EyeStudio in Blackest Black, Mac Fluidline in Black track
All in all, the product held up fairly okay, however it wasn’t as strong as Mac’s Fluidline. My personal experience with this eyeliner is that it doesn’t stay on all day. Especially on my waterline… It comes off within the hour and settles underneath my eye, which is never a good look!
As much as I love Urban Decay, I am disappointed with this product.
Conclusion?
